Hi,
I went through the manual but I didn't undrstand how I can convert the simresults.csv in order to use it in jeplus+ea. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Kostas
Hi to everyone,
I am using Daysim/Radiance to calculate the lighting loads and then I import the associated schedule file to Energy Plus. Now just say that I have two window parameters ( single @ double glazing) and the associated lighting control files lighting_control_single_glazing and lighting_control_double_glazing. How can I combine single glazing with lighting_control_single_glazing in order to avoid combinations like single_glazing with lighting_control_double_glazing?
Thanks in advance,
Kostas
I have two problems with command line execution of jEPlus:
1. No matter what I said in the number of jobs (I specified 6), jEPlus always run to the maximum number of processors in my computer (8). This only happens through command line. The GUI seems to make jEPlus honor the limit.
2. It always run readvarseso even if I have unselected the RVI. This process alone can take 45 mins (for a total 384 jobs), so I would like to avoid this if possible.
Does this only happen to my computer? I am running on Ubuntu.

JESS Online is the reincarnation of the JESS service hosted at De Montfort University in the past two years. It is now offered as an online simulation service at ensims.com. You need a JESS Client to access the service. See the How to Get Started page for more details.
This forum will used to post questions and answers about the JESS platform, the Client software and other online/cloud simulation issues.

I am pleased to announce that we have updated the Energy Simulation Solutions' website, its key simulation stations product lines, and will launch the JESS online simulation service shortly. We will use forum as a help desk to answer any questions or inquiries about the ENSIMS stuff. Your comments and feedback are warmly welcome, too.
I have basic familiarity with Linux. We are looking at 'migrating' our Amazon EC2 Windows platform to Linux to run some JE Plus based analysis due to Linux instances being roughly half the price...
I setup the basic Ubuntu server and ran the install script for the latest Energy Plus version. I have also installed Java.
What is the best way to 'convert' our current Windows generated JEP files to run in the Linux environment? Is it best to install a GUI instead of trying to do everything via the command line? Is there a particular 'flavor' of Java that is required?
I am trying to run parametric simulations of 12 parameters with 5 values each for a Monte Carlo analysis. This is a test run for a future sample of about 20 parameters of about 30 values each.
I have run a sample of 150 simulations previously using jEPlus1.5 and this took about 5 hours on my i7 Laptop which can run 8 simultaneous threads. I am looking at several thousand simulations for my calibration project and need to scale up my processing power. I have access to a number of redundant but still quite powerful computers so Yi suggested I use jEPlus+NET.
jEPlus+NET1.2 is installed on four (x eight thread) machines (until I can scrounge some more) one of which is working as the server. jEPlus+NET has worked on a small single sample job which simulated on an execution node correctly.
My problem is when I try to scale up the number of simulations. My first attempt at 12 parameters crashed so I have started adding parameters to the tree and validating the project after each new parameter. The project validated fine at 1 parameter (5 jobs) 2 parameters (25 jobs) 3 parameters (125 jobs) 4 parameters (625 jobs)... 7 jobs (78125 jobs) took about 1 second to validate and 8 parameters (390625 jobs) took 4.5 seconds. When I try to add the ninth parameter, jEPlus+NET hangs for a while, prints "validating project, hang on..." and then hangs indefinitely.
I don't want to run hundreds of thousands of simulation - I will be running a Latin Hypercube Sample, but jEPlus+NET won't get as far as starting the server.
I wondered if jEPlus+NET1.2 is using an older "engine" than jEPlus1.5 or perhaps there are some settings I can change.
I have jEPlus1.5 running successfully on my PC and have run a Latin Hypercube Sample of 150 simulations from a jEPlus job with 12 Parameters which each had 5 alternative values (potentially 244,140,625 jobs). This fulfils one of my objectives exactly. Thank you for creating this tool and your help to date.
I also have another task I need to perform. I need to assess the relative impact of each of the 12 parameters with the values of all other parameters held at a nominal value. Eventually I want to extend this to assess the relative impact of over 500 hundred parameters, but first I need to prove a method.
If I arrange my parameters in a tree with each parameter described by a low, nominal and a high value I end up with potentially 3^12 = 531,441 jobs. However, I only really need to run 3 x 12 = 36 jobs. These jobs would be:
Jobs 1 to 3: parameter1 = {low, nominal, high}, parameter2 = {nominal), parameter3 = {nominal}, parameter4 = {nominal}, etc.
Jobs 4 to 6: parameter1 = {nominal}, parameter2 = {low, nominal, high}, parameter3 = {nominal}, parameter4 = {nominal}, etc
Jobs 7 to 9 : parameter1 = {nominal}, parameter2 = {nominal}, parameter3 = {low, nominal, high}, parameter4 = {nominal}, etc
etc
Can this be configured from the Parameter Tree field on the Project Tab? How?
This would be manageable with a small number of parameters but will become unwieldy when I expand my analysis to over 500. Is there a way of configuring jEPlus from an external file such as csv or txt? I.e. A way of telling jEPlus to only run specific simulations from the tree?

Hi EveryBody
About coupling jEplus to MATLAB ,I Will Really Appreciate Your Help to guide me How to Use jEplus Command lines?I mean,I really don’t Know,Where I must Paste or Use Below jEplus Commandline ??
Must I Paste it,in Utilities tab /Run ReadVars/in command line blank ?I don’t Think So.[my project name is=Project.jep ]and [my File name is Rose]:
java -jar jEPlus.jar -job Rose/ Project.jep -file joblist.txt
I Really Appreciate your Time
Many Thanks and Regards
sincerely
Rose Martin
